Youth Confirmation
We believe the purpose of confirmation instruction, concluding with the Rite of Confirmation, is to help students:
- Personally confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and take personal ownership in declaring, by the power of the Holy Spirit, their own allegiance to Christ
- Eagerly explore the awesomeness of God and the mysteries of faith
- Identify themselves as members, as a unique and special part of the body of Christ, as Lutherans and members of a local congregation
- Regularly participate in public worship and the reception of Holy Communion, engage in personal and group Bible study and its application to life, strive to lead God-pleasing lives and offer services to God by serving others
- Celebrate the relationships that they have with God as their personal God
- Celebrate the special relationships they have as children of God with…
- Pastor and Director of Christian Education (DCE)
- Guides in confirmation instruction
- Peers in confirmation instruction
- Family
- Members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church
- And other Christian friends
To accomplish our purpose, we believe confirmation instruction should help our students:
- Grow in the knowledge of the Holy Scriptures and application of its truth to their lives,
- Learn basic skills of discipleship and spiritual discipline, and
- Develop attitudes that, as maturing disciples of Jesus Christ, they will carry with them throughout their lives.
- We believe confirmation instruction is concluded when the 8th grade confirmands make a public profession of their faith in the Rite of Confirmation, usually held the first Sunday in May.
Interested in serving as a confirmation guide?
The opportunity is open to all confirmed adults of Beautiful Savior. The role of the guide is to maintain a caring environment for a small group so that the confirmation students can better apply the faith teachings, to encourage worship and Sunday School attendance, provide a positive role model and an accepting, understanding presence, and provide constructive feedback to enhance and strengthen the program.
A small group is made up of two adult guides and 4 – 6 youth and the commitment is for Wednesday evenings September to Lent, with a break for holidays. Guide training with Pastor Schultz takes place before the first class. If you are interested in being a confirmation guide or would like more information, please contact Eden Keefe (<[login to view email]> or 780-6023).
