MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND AT BSLC!!
There are MANY opportunities for special music during worship
services at BSLC. We have Praise 150, Joyful Noise, the
Brass & Woodwind Choir, the Handbell Choir, and more small
groups. We are wanting quartets, octets, solos, and instrumental
music to also enhance our worship and praises to God. There
is always piano/keyboard/organ accompaniment, but consider
singing with guitars, brass and woodwind instruments, handbells
and other instruments. New music groups may be formed
at any time. To become involved in the music ministry
at church and with fellow musicians of BSLC, contact Deb Miller. Music
opportunities are varied and many!! Let us come
before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and
song. (Psalm 95:2)

M.U.S.I.C.!!
A new music ministry is coming to BSLC! It
is called "M.U.S.I.C." and stands for "Ministering Using Songs
In Christ". Starting July 15th, there will be regularly scheduled
music practices on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings
of each month, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Vocalists and instrumentalists who are interested in developing
and working on more difficult and labor-intensive pieces for
worship services are invited to come. Bring your voices, bring
your instruments, and join in fellowship with others.
We will work on jazz selections, contemporary
pieces, a Christmas song, and updated versions of beloved
hymns. Ideas and enthusiasm are welcome! We will continue
to make music and grow together and give back to God our musical
talents which He has given us. Contact Todd McMullen, Carisa
McMullen, or Deb Miller with questions or for more information.

Choral Music Opportunities Continue!!
Small choral groups, individual solos and duets are welcome
at any time. Talk with Deb Miller if you are interested.

Praise 150
The young people’s music group is Praise 150. Psalm 150
tells us to praise the Lord with all our gifts of music.
Since this music group consists of several talented youth,
who “praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with
the strings and flute, praise Him with the clash of cymbals,
praise Him with resounding cymbals, and let everything that
has breath praise the Lord,” we only found it appropriate
to be called Praise 150. Praising the Lord with all our abilities!
Praise 150 provides special music during the worship services
every second Sunday of each month. They recently performed
in concert at BSLC.

Joyful Noise
Joyful Noise is BSLC’s first adult contemporary
music group. They provide special music in worship services
several times during the year. A second contemporary group
has begun participating in worship services. More adult music
groups may be formed with enough interest.

Brass & Woodwind Choir
The Brass & Woodwind Choir has provided special music
during the festival Sundays of the church year. Instrumentalists
from all age groups comprise this musical choir. We are always
on the look-out for new members! Get out that instrument
which has not been played in several years and join us for
practices and to play praises to God. Contact Deb Miller
for more information.

Handbell Choir
BSLC has 3 octaves of handbells. The Handbell Choir practices
on Wednesday evenings and is always looking for new members.
The choir participates in worship services several times during
the year. Contact Amy Filipek for additional information.

Music Workshop 2008!!
Dr. John Behnke, Professor of Music at Concordia
University in Mequon, Wisconsin,
was a huge hit with our workshop participants in March 2007.
They asked to have Dr. Behnke come back and Dr. Behnke gave
BSLC the “first shot” at reserving dates in 2008 because he
had so much fun here! October 17th and 18th
will be the dates of our “Fall Music Festival” in 2008. We
will again have an organ recital and hymn fest on Friday evening,
October 17th, with an all-day handbell workshop
on Saturday, October 18th. The Kansas
chapter of AGEHR (The American Guild of English Handbell Ringers)
will be co-sponsoring the event with BSLC. Stay tuned for
more workshop information and the workshop brochure coming
after Easter. We praise God for all of the blessings He has
bestowed upon us!
