SMALL GROUP SINGERS Do you enjoy singing but cannot commit
to a weekly choir schedule? Are you in the choir, but would
like to participate in quartets or octets on occasion? We
want to identify all BSLC members who would like to put their
vocal talents to use in participating in occasional Sunday
morning worship services throughout the church year. Performances
and practices would be set up based upon the group's schedules.
If interested, please indicate so by signing up on the "Vocal
Groups" sheet on the clipboard in the narthex. Any questions,
contact Deb Miller, 940-0726 or sanctus@kc.surewest.net. (Ps
95:2)
~ ~ CALLING ALL BRASS & WOODWIND INSTRUMENTALISTS ~ ~
We are looking for "old" and "new" musicians
who play a brass or woodwind instrument. There are several
Sundays throughout the church year considered festival Sundays
where a Brass and Woodwind Choir has participated in worship
services in the past. We would like to do this again! And
- we would like groups of instruments to participate in occasional
Sunday morning worship services for special music selections
and accompanying congregational singing. If your instrument
has been put away - get it out! Join fellow BSLC members for
some fun and to make music together! Please indicate your
interest on the "Brass and Woodwind" sign-up sheet
in the narthex. Contact Deb Miller, 940-0726, or sanctus@kc.surewest.net
with questions. "Let every instrument be tuned for praise!"
(vs. 4 of the hymn When In Our Music God Is Glorified)

SACK LUNCHES FOR HOMELESS In September we will
again be collecting items to pack sack lunches for the homeless.
These lunches will be donated to Westport United Methodist
church for distribution to homeless people in the KC area.
This is a great time to collect donations because many of
the items are on sale for 'back to school' lunches. Items
we will need include juice boxes, fruit cups, pudding cups,
easy-open 3-oz tuna, individual-size packages of cookies,
etc. There will be a poster in the narthex with post-it donation
requests - please take a few request notes and bring the items
indicated. If you have questions, contact Gina Raetzel. Thanks
for your help!
CARDS FOR MILITARY There are some "We Salute You"
and "Birthday Greetings" cards available for our
military guys on the round table by the stairs. Please feel
free to use them, along with the others, to send to our servicemen.
We will also have some seasonal cards available beginning
in October. These are provided by the LWML-Lutheran Women
in Mission.
SHOEBOXES FOR ELDERLY Please bring in donations through September
or donate a complete box. They will be donated to MLM for
distribution to their elderly clients. There is not a specific
list for these care packages, so feel free to use your imagination.
Anything will be appreciated! Suggested items include smoke
alarms, thin mints, flashlights, nightlights, blank note cards,
post-it notes, batteries, pens, postage stamps, etc. Please
contact Gina Raetzel or Joyce Webber if you have questions.
