In
calling ourselves
Beautiful Savior
Lutheran Church
we
are not simply referring to some physical characteristics
of Jesus, but to the grand and wonderful things He has done
for us. What is beautiful is the Good News that He
died to take away our sins and rose again to bring us new
and eternal life.
It
is the beauty of that Gospel that is captured in this
logo as it combines the
Star of Bethlehem,
the Cross of Calvary and the Empty Tomb.
We
go from the cradle to the cross to the crown.
The
cradle is represented by the
Star of Bethlehem
that shines forth the hope and promise of Christ's birth into
our world.
From
the cradle we go to the cross. It is on the
cross that Christ suffered and died bearing the sins of the
world. The Cross
of Calvary offers
a sinful world forgiveness and salvation.
From
the cradle to the cross to the crown.
The center of star is clear and represents the open tomb and
the resurrection victory of our Lord and Savior. There is
nothing there because Christ is not there, He is risen!
The
rays emanating from the Star and the Cross come from the
Empty Tomb.
They
are dynamic in the sense that they hold no single meaning
but may be interpreted differently by each of us. They may
be the rays of the new life that is ours by grace through
faith in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
They may represent
Faith, Hope and
Love.
To some they may represent the
Trinity.
To
others the rays may be the
Means of Grace
(the
Word of God, Baptism and Holy Communion).
The logo was designed Susan Shields and Pastor Goetzke
in 1991.
